Common Nutrition Mistakes
Nutrition Mistakes
- Not eating breakfast – When you wake up in the morning your blood sugar is low. You need to get some food in your belly or else your metabolism will slow down so it can store fat. You will be so hungry by lunch that the temptation to pig out, especially on empty high glycemic carbs, will be overwhelming.
- Low Fat – Low fat means high sugar. Too much sugar in your system leads to more bodyfat. Don’t kid yourself by eating a box of low fat cookies.
- If it’s organic it’s healthy – A cookie is a cookie. Eating two dozen chocolate chip cookies will make you fat, it doesn’t matter if you bought them at the farmers market and all the ingredients are local and organic.
- Drinking desert coffees – You drink enough frappucinos at Starbucks and you get a free pair of muffin tops.
- Eating like you’re on the high school football team – Men know what I’m talking about. Just because you pump a little iron doesn’t mean that you can weigh as much as lineman in the NFL.

- Emotional eating – “Oh poor me, where’s the twinkies, I need something to deal with the pain”.Instead of feeling sorry for yourself, go for a workout and then treat yourself to a healthy meal.
- Eating like a 3 year old – “eww, broccoli’s gross mommy, I just want chicken nuggets”. What’s gross is globs of fat spilling all over the place if you continue to substitute bad carbs for good carbs, and by the way you’re kid will love to eat broccoli if you just stop feeding them crappola.
- Mistaking skipping meals for a nutrition plan – Basic eating disorder 101. Not eating, then eating a lot. Slow metabolism. You’ll end up skinny, but you won’t be lean. Skinny is bad, lean is good.
- Juice/Smoothies - If you’re going to drink juice do it in an 8 0z juice glass. Don’t drink juice to quench your thirst. It’s a good way to spike your blood sugar and stock up on too many calories to metabolize.
- Being a “dumb” vegetarian/vegan – If you are going to go this route, make sure you get all your amino acids by mixing rice with beans, nuts, greens, etc. Just eating a bowl of rice three times a day is a great way to ruin your body and end up being skinnyfat.
- Being a “dumb” carnivore – Loading up on deli meats, hot dogs, and bacon, etc. Don’t forget that some protein comes from vegetable sources as well.
- Energy Drinks – These are real popular with junkies on skid row. Do you think junkies have good nutrition plans? Basically “mountain dews” with some vitamins in them. A cup of coffee/green tea and plenty of water/sleep and vitamins and you will have enough energy.
